You might remember one of the confidential support options we talked about during the HAVEN presentation is UNC’s own Gender Violence Services Coordinators (GVSCs), Holly Lovern and Kayla Zollinger. Holly and Kayla have been meeting with students, faculty, and staff throughout this time of ‘remote work’. Similar to the EOC, the GVSCs have also heard positive feedback from the Carolina community about the option to meet via video call.

Kayla and Holly’s primary responsibility at Carolina is to help students, faculty, and staff who have been impacted by sexual harassment and sexual violence, relationship violence, stalking, and related concerns. They can provide confidential emotional support, safety planning, academic support, referrals to resources, and they can help students and employees impacted by harassment and violence navigate University and law enforcement reporting process.

Additionally, the GVSCs recently launched a brand-new website (gvsc.unc.edu) with information about their support and services. One resource on the new site may be of specific interest for faculty: a GVSC guide for supporting students. Check it out!

If you are interested in setting up a confidential meeting with Holly or Kayla, send an email to: gvsc@unc.edu.
