EOC is part of the Division of Workforce Strategy, Equity, and Engagement at UNC-Chapel Hill.

The Division of Workforce Strategy, Equity, and Engagement was formed in 2014 to join together the central University offices that strive to make Carolina a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere — the Office of Human Resources (OHR), EOC, and the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs (DMA). By bringing these three critical areas together in a single division, the University intends to significantly increase collaboration; create campus-wide opportunities for compliance training, engagement, and learning; and advance Carolina’s mission to provide a welcoming, equitable, and stimulating educational environment for all. These three offices work to implement strategies for supporting and enriching Carolina’s workforce, complying with Equal Opportunity/ADA laws, and enhancing inclusiveness across all parts of our campus. More information about the other offices within this Division follows below.

  • OHR:  OHR is the central office responsible for HR operations covering all non-faculty (SHRA and EHRA Non-Faculty) employees, including employment compliance, benefit administration, and compensation. OHR works in partnership with campus school/division HR offices to provide a variety of programs and services to support and develop employees, and ensure that human resources policies, practices, and procedures are fully and correctly implemented.
  • DMA:  DMA has primary responsibility for providing University-wide leadership on best practices and strategies to build and sustain an inclusive campus community. DMA promotes the principles of equity and inclusion in recruitment, through diversity education and functions, and development programming. DMA strives to position Carolina to fulfill its mission of educating a diverse student body with the added goal of aspiring to attract and retain faculty and staff reflective of our larger community while maintain an unwavering commitment to excellence.
