Title IX is the federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in K-12 and higher education. Title IX regulations make significant changes to how colleges and universities are required to respond to certain allegations of sexual misconduct. Effective August 14, 2020, the University has adopted a new Policy on Prohibited Sexual Harassment under Title IX. This policy, which was developed in collaboration with representatives from our campus community, will address and apply to behaviors that fall under the definitions and parameters specifically designated by the new federal regulations.

The Associate Vice Chancellor of the University’s Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office, Elizabeth Hall, is responsible for coordinating the University’s efforts to comply with and carry out its responsibilities under Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination in all operations of the University, as well as retaliation. Elizabeth leads the University’s response and compliance efforts related to Title IX, coordinates resources for those affected by sexual harassment and sexual violence, organizes training and awareness efforts, and monitors the implementation of the University’s discrimination and sexual violence policy.
