HAVEN (Helping Advocates for Violence Ending Now) provides students, faculty, staff and Post Doctoral Fellows with tools to be an ally to someone who has experienced sexual or interpersonal (relationship) violence or stalking. The three-hour live training emphasizes the importance of listening, responding compassionately, and connecting survivors to resources on campus and in the community. The training is a collaboration between EOC, the Carolina Women’s Center, the Office of the Dean of Students, and Student Wellness.
There are three options for HAVEN training:
- HAVEN for students
- HAVEN for faculty and staff
- HAVEN refresher training (designed for any member of the UNC-CH community who has previously been HAVEN trained and would like to stay up to date on their skills and knowledge of University policies and resources)
Those who complete HAVEN training receive a placard and button that they may display on their office door, residence hall room door, laptop or backpack. This visibility of trained community members helps send a message to the campus that our community cares!
