Empowering Employees: Part of the Empowering Carolina Series

EOC will host Empowering Employees on Thursday, April 21, 2016, to celebrate the contributions of employees with disabilities at UNC-Chapel Hill and to share information about empowering individuals with disabilities within our workforce. The event is scheduled for 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Frank Porter Graham Student Union in room 2518 A-B. Bagels and coffee will be served.

The event will include a feature presentation from Arlene M. Glover, director of the Greensboro office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which will reflect on accomplishments since the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) more than 25 years ago, discuss recommendations for ADA initiatives at colleges and universities, and highlight emerging issues. The event will also include a panel discussion with University employees and managers, who will share their experiences and insight into the accommodations process at Carolina. Panel members include:

• Chip Fehr, Facility Maintenance Supervisor, Building Services
• Dawud Hilliard, Facility Director, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center
• Angenette McAdoo, Employee and Management Relations Manager, Office of Human Resources
• Meenu Tewari, Associate Professor, City and Regional Planning

Those who attend the event will also have the opportunity to speak with local and campus accessibility resources.
