Empowering Carolina – Inclusion Drives Innovation

October 10, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Please join us for an exciting Empowering Carolina event on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Student Union. Empowering Carolina, which first launched in the spring of 2016, is a series of programs held on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill throughout the year to raise awareness of resources for individuals with disabilities and to celebrate disabilities as part of diversity.

October is Disability Awareness Month and this year’s theme is Inclusion Drives Innovation. The event will feature messages from Tom Colclough, Deputy Director of the Charlotte District Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Kyria I. Henry, CEO of Paws for People. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about resources available for students and employees with disabilities at UNC-Chapel Hill. A free lunch will be served beginning at noon.

Empowering Carolina is sponsored by Accessibility Resources & Service and the Division of Workforce Strategy, Equity and Engagement, including the University Office for Diversity and Inclusion, the Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office, and the Office of Human Resources.

If you need accommodations for the event (e.g., sign language interpreters), please contact Rudy Jones at rudy_jones@unc.edu, (919) 962-9980, or (T) 711 NC RELAY as soon as possible.
